Flavours of Strathpine

Find out more about the wonderful food here at Strathpine by Head Chef, Wayne, and the kitchen team.

For many of us, food is such a joyful part of our daily life, and the quality of our food contributes to our overall physical and mental well-being. As a brand-new home, residents at Strathpine Aged Care are enjoying the variety of foods on the menu as crafted by Head Chef, Wayne, and the kitchen team.

Wayne tells us that his team prepare a variety of menu options of foods that residents have previously eaten and loved throughout their lives, whilst also introducing some exciting options from other cultures they may not be as familiar with.

‘We consult with our residents through food focus forums as to what they would like to see on the menu,’ Wayne says. ‘We then adjust the menu to reflect the residents likes or dislikes.’

At Strathpine, the kitchen team ensures that every main meal includes high-quality protein and is cooked fresh every day. Our home also has a dietician that is in regular consultation with residents and key staff members to provide advice regarding each resident’s individual nutritional requirements.

As part of the culinary journey, Wayne says that he and his team work closely with the leisure and lifestyle department to plan for theme days and special events. ‘After consultation with the residents as to what they would like to have for the special day, and how they would like to celebrate, we then offer a choice of menus that reflects the days’ theme,’ says Wayne.

Strathpine Aged Care also offers private functions for special occasions in the private dining room where our chefs tailor a variety of food and beverage options to suit all taste preferences.

For Strathpine resident, Collette Barron, having built a relationship with Head Chef, Wayne, also helps ensure that her and other residents are receiving high-quality meal options as well as comfort knowing who is cooking and delivering their meals. ‘It's good we always let Wayne know about our meals, what we like, and even if it’s something we haven't had before,’ she says. ‘Wayne is always around and easy to talk to, which is really good. We have good meals here.’

When asked what a highlight dinner has been so far while living at Strathpine, Collette replies, ‘I had the lamb chops the other night and it was beautiful. I always try and keep a little room for the dessert.’
