Finding the right home for your loved one

At Strathpine Aged Care, we are committed to helping you find the right home for your loved one. Our dedicated team are here to guide you every step of the way and answer any questions you may have.

For many, the idea of placing a loved one into care can be overwhelming along with common feelings of stress, anxiety, and guilt. While the process can be complicated, our friendly team at Strathpine Aged Care are here to help and guide you every step of the way.

Strathpine Aged Care’s, Joyce Stephan, has worked in the aged care industry for more than 40 years in management positions including working for the Tingari Group for the last 10 years as a Facility Manager and Business Development Manager. Joyce is passionate about guiding residents and their families into care, easing stress and answering any questions or concerns families may have.

‘We understand that the process of entering aged care can be overwhelming for residents and their families as there’s lots to learn about the process,’ says Joyce. ‘A large part of my role isn’t just about showing our wonderful new home, but it’s about helping families find a home that’s right for their loved one. Many families just want someone to help guide them through government bureaucracy process, and that’s what I enjoy most about my role at Strathpine.’

Joyce has been involved in the development of the other Tingari Group homes and notices that the most important decision for families is about ensuring that the next home for a resident is one where they will feel at home. ‘Throughout my career, I know that families often look for a home that is modern and is beautifully decorated, but our home is so much more than that,’ says Joyce. ‘If I could give one piece of advice to families looking to place a loved one into care, it is to look deeply into the home; learn about the care, the food, the activities, and the family connection among staff and residents.’

At Strathpine Aged Care, our home has its own unique community where staff and residents come together to support one another, have fun, and make the most out of every day. We support an independent approach to aged care, encouraging residents to get involved as little or as much as they like in all of our social and lifestyle activities and events.

‘It brings me joy coming to work every day seeing residents having fun and smiling with staff, seeing the interaction between residents, family members, and staff this is what creates areal community atmosphere,’ says Joyce. ‘I also don’t think residents realise how lonely they were feeling at home until they come into care either, so seeing new friendships form is really special.’
